Joe is well known for always sketching when out and about, so his work is very expressive, capturing the world as it moves around him. When he is not working from life, Joe makes zines and mixed media collages. He is particularly interested in art that is accessible, playful and creates a community. With a strong belief that art is for everyone, much of Joe’s work is collaborative and involves others.
Joe completed an NC in Fine Art in 2015 at Glasgow City College and is starting BA Art and Design at the Forth Valley College in September 2026. During his break from formal education Joe has built up 8 years of experience facilitating both art and outdoor workshops for all ages.
His current practice and recent residency work has focused on underwater life, through photographs taken when snorkelling. The completely different world that is just below the waves is full of interesting shapes, textures and vibrant but earthy colours that lend themselves well to exploratory mixing of materials which characterises much of Joe’s art.
